The Lapel Stony Creek Township Fire Territory announces the retirement of Fire Chief Tom Marvel, a dedicated public servant with a career marked by unwavering commitment, leadership, and service to the community. Chief Marvel’s journey with the department began in March 2009 as a volunteer, and he quickly rose through the ranks after becoming a certified firefighter and EMT in July of the same year.

His exceptional leadership qualities and dedication earned him a promotion to fire lieutenant in 2012, followed by key leadership roles as fire captain, training officer, and assistant fire chief. In 2022, Chief Marvel made history as the first fire chief officially appointed by the Fire Board, a testament to the respect and trust he had earned within the department and the community.

Throughout his tenure, Chief Marvel oversaw significant advancements within the department, focusing on training, operational excellence, and community engagement. His efforts have left a lasting impact, ensuring the Lapel Stony Creek Township Fire Territory is stronger and better equipped to serve the community than ever before. Guided by the values of service, integrity, and courage, Chief Marvel’s leadership has inspired those around him, leaving a lasting legacy that will continue to shape the department’s future.

The Town of Lapel and Stony Creek Township extend their deepest gratitude to Chief Marvel for his years of service, steadfast leadership, and enduring commitment to protecting life and property. As he steps down, the Lapel Stony Creek Township Fire Territory remains committed to its mission of providing the highest quality fire suppression, emergency medical services, public education, and prevention to residents, business owners, and visitors.

With 5 years of service in the fire department, Bryan has been making a difference in his community since day one. As a Firefighter and Maintenance Assistant, he plays a crucial role in ensuring the fire territory runs smoothly, from participating in trainings to lending a hand at special events and responding to calls for service.

Bryan’s connection to the community runs deep, having grown up in the Town of Lapel and now proudly serving the area he calls home. What makes his service even more remarkable is that he serves alongside his brother, carrying on a family legacy of commitment, courage, and community dedication.

When asked what drives him to volunteer, Bryan’s response is heartfelt: “Being able to help in the town I call home is the best feeling in the world.” This sense of purpose and passion is evident in everything he does, from his work as a Grader INC/Mechanic in his full-time job to his tireless efforts as a firefighter.

🕶️ Dress for the heat by wearing loose, light-colored clothing. Try to avoid strenuous activities during the hottest parts of the day, typically between 11 AM and 5 PM.

It also features a ✅ Stryker Power Load system, ensuring safer and smoother patient loading and unloading.

With a rich history of service, Ambulance 72 initially served as Ambulance 71, delivering countless hours of frontline service before being reassigned to its current role as our second-out unit. Although it’s no longer our primary ambulance, it remains a vital part of our EMS response capability.
