Day Four of Fire Prevention Week at Lapel Elementary School kicked off with a visit from local firefighters, who brought valuable fire safety skills and knowledge to the students. The firefighters tailored their lessons to each age group, ensuring that every student received information relevant to their level of understanding. This hands-on approach helped the children develop essential safety tips and preparedness strategies in case of an emergency.
A major highlight of the visit was the interactive tour of the fire apparatus, which allowed the students to get up close and personal with the equipment and vehicles used by firefighters every day. The excitement was palpable as the children explored the tools and asked curious questions, their laughter and enthusiasm filling the air.
The firefighters also took the time to share lunch with the students, fostering connections and reinforcing the important message that “Firefighters are Friends” who are always there to help and protect. This special bonding experience helped drive home the significance of fire safety and the critical role that firefighters play in the community. As the day drew to a close, the students were left with lasting memories, newfound knowledge, and a deeper appreciation for the brave men and women who serve as their local firefighters.
