As harvest season reaches its peak across our community, it’s common to see more farm equipment on the roadways, particularly during early morning and evening hours.
PLEASE SLOW DOWN & STAY ALERT!
Farmers are dedicated to feeding our communities, and their equipment often travels at slower speeds than regular traffic. To help ensure everyone’s safety, consider the following precautions:
Be patient and avoid rushing, as most equipment will pull over when it’s safe to do so.
Maintain a safe distance from large machinery, as tailgating can be extremely hazardous.
Only pass farm equipment when it’s safe and legally permitted.
Be aware of potential turns, as tractors may swing wide or make unexpected turns into fields or driveways.
Exercise extra caution during periods of low visibility, such as when dust is present or during dawn and dusk hours, as these conditions can make equipment more difficult to see.
By taking these simple steps, we can all contribute to protecting the people who work tirelessly to cultivate the land. A few extra minutes on the road is a negligible price to pay for the safety of our community.
