Around 3:00 a.m., units from the Lawrence Township Community Tactical Fire Team (LSCTFT), South Madison Fire Territory, Noblesville Fire Department, and Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Department in Hamilton County were dispatched by Madison County Central Dispatch to a report of a commercial structure fire in the area of Brookside Road and 6th Street. Upon arrival, the Lapel Police Department advised of heavy smoke showing, and the incident was upgraded to a “working” fire, prompting additional units to be dispatched from Madison County Emergency Management & Homeland Security Agency, East Madison Fire Territory, and Cicero Fire Department.
Firefighters launched an aggressive offensive attack, effectively mitigating the fire hazard as units arrived on the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
