Meet the Chaplains Serving Lapel Stony Creek Township Fire Territory

Lapel Stony Creek Township Fire Territory is proud to introduce the dedicated members of our Chaplain Division, led by Chaplain Tyson Priest, with Chaplain Aaron Taylor and Chaplain Eric Anderson serving alongside him. Our chaplains play a vital role in supporting the emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being of our firefighters, staff, and the community.

Their responsibilities include providing emotional and spiritual care to first responders during and after emergency calls, offering guidance and support to firefighters and their families in times of stress or crisis, and assisting with grief counseling, crisis intervention, and post-incident stress debriefings. They also serve as a trusted presence on-scene or at the station, available to listen, pray, or simply be there when needed, and support community members during traumatic events, such as fires, accidents, or loss.

Our Chaplain Division is committed to ensuring that no one faces tough times alone, whether you wear the uniform or are a member of the community we serve. According to Fire Chief Jason Renner, “The role of a chaplain in the fire service is invaluable. Our firefighters face high-stress situations and emotional challenges that most people never see. Having Chaplains Tyson Priest, Aaron Taylor, and Eric Anderson as part of our team ensures that no one walks through those struggles alone. Their support, wisdom, and presence make a lasting impact on the mental and emotional health of our crews and the community. I am truly grateful for their dedication and service to the Lapel Stony Creek Township Fire Territory.”

Chaplain Aaron Taylor serves as the Senior Pastor of Ford Street Church, where he is passionate about helping people grow spiritually, find comfort in community, and engage meaningfully in the world around them. Originally from Franklin, IN, he studied religion at the University of Indianapolis and earned a Master of Divinity from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, OH. He has been married to his college sweetheart, Emily, and together they have four daughters—Addie, Ella, Tessa, and Brenda. In his spare time, he enjoys board and card games, tabletop role-playing games, 3D printing, and cheering on the Michigan Wolverines.

Chaplain Eric Anderson is a 2009 graduate of Shenandoah High School in Middletown, Indiana. He earned an Associate’s degree in Computer Information Technology from Ivy Tech Community College and currently works for a technology company in Noblesville, having previously held several IT roles. Alongside his career, Eric has been actively pursuing ministry training and schooling through the Christian Leaders Institute and looks forward to using this training to serve as a chaplain for the Lapel Stony Creek Township Fire Territory. He is also an active member of several fraternal organizations in the area. Eric is married to Riley Anderson and is the proud father of two children.
