Traffic Advisory: Funeral Procession for Officer Anderson Vilma Expected to Impact Local Traffic on Monday
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department announced that the funeral procession for Officer Anderson Vilma is scheduled to take place on Monday, which may impact local traffic. Officer Vilma, 32, passed away on April 3 after battling cancer. According to an online obituary, he lived life to the fullest and achieved his goal of becoming a Navy Officer and later a police officer. He is survived by his mother, father, two sisters, and younger brother.

The visitation for Officer Vilma will take place on Monday, April 14, from 8-10 a.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St. A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral procession. The procession route will begin at approximately 12 p.m. and will impact traffic along the following route:
* South on Clarendon Road
* East on 38th Street
* South on Shadeland Avenue
* East on 10th Street
* South on North Shortridge Road
* West into main entrance of Get Fit, then northbound in front of the gym, and westbound in front of IMPD East District
* Northbound into the parking lot of East District HQ, 201 Shadeland Ave.
The procession route will then return to Crown Hill Cemetery via the following route:
* North through the lot, then westbound, exiting on the north end of the lot
* North on the access road, then west to the light by Jiffy Lube
* North on Shadeland Avenue
* West on 38th Street
* South on North Capitol Avenue
* West on 34th Street to Crown Hill entrance
IMPD notes that traffic disruptions are expected to be minimal.
