Alexandria Man Arrested After Crashing Into Speedway Sign in Anderson

An Alexandria man is facing multiple charges following a crash Saturday evening that ended with a vehicle striking a sign at a Speedway gas station in Anderson.

Police say the 36-year-old man allegedly fled the scene after crashing a silver Chevy Equinox into the sign around 5:54 p.m. at the Speedway located at 1001 W. 53rd Street. He is now facing three misdemeanor charges: leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, and resisting law enforcement.

Footage of the incident was captured by a nearby business, Hudson Tool Rental, located across the street from the gas station, and obtained by FOX59/CBS4.

The suspect was taken into custody at the scene and booked into the Madison County Jail around 10:43 p.m. Further details have not yet been released
